From the moment our Chairman clapped eyes on the grounds at Hart Common, a twenty eight year love affair started between him and seven acres of unkempt meadowland. John and three other pioneers spent hours and days taming the wild overgrown area that is now our football pitches ! To mark his incredible achievement over the years a presentation recently took place.
Achievements recognised at long last !!

John's Civic Medal !
To mark the special occasion John is pictured with the Mayor of Westhoughton receiving his commemorative medal at a recent presentation evening hosted by Westhoughton Town Council.
The medal is the highest and most prestigious award that can be awarded to a local citizen for work in the community. As usual John was quick to point out that without the support of volunteers both old and new, the club could not have thrived in the manner that it has.
'Kew Yead City'
Many of you will recognise the 'Spirit of Sport' statue which is sited close to the Reebok Stadium in Bolton. The statue celebrates the achievements of local sporting heroes with hundreds of pictures on its outer surface. One of those heroes is non other than John Morris our Chairman. Look out for his picture next time you pass this imposing feature of the Bolton skyline !
True to the spirit of Westhoughton our club features the local hero of the town the famous cow. Rumour has it that the cow got its head stuck in a five bar gate and rather than damage the gate, getting the cow free, the farmer cut off its head ? To this day the story from 300 years ago is as strong as ever !!!
