Westhoughton Park Rangers 3 v 2 Moses Gate
This was the first real test of the season – A team we didn’t beat in the league last year. Moses Gate took 4 of the 6 points from us last season.
We started the game like we’d just put the team together and we were all over the place. The marking was poor – the passing was poor – no tracking back – no closing down I can go on..
However, we took the lead after 15 minutes against the run of play with a through ball from Jordan Johnston that put Nathan O’Malley through to slot the ball past their keeper.
Poor marking from a free kick saw Moses Gate get the equaliser hit straight into the net.
A stern half time team talk was urgently needed.
Half time – 1 v 1
We started the second half with a bit more urgency but still looked out of sorts.
A good individual goal from Nathan got our second with a wonderful strike that saw the ball fly into the top right corner. 2 - 1
A bit of breathing space but again short lived.
Moses Gate broke through the middle and passed the ball well to see a volley fly into our net – a great goal !! 2 – 2
With only a minute to go we grabbed the winner again from Nathan O’Malley who took the ball passed the defender and managed to squeee it between the keeper and the left post 3 – 2
A very disappointed display from the lads but got out of jail and kept the unbeaten run intact – now 17 games unbeaten.
In fairness to Moses Gate the best team lost !!
Full – time 3 v 2
